POWERFUL AND DELICATE
Creating Lonely Thoughts has been a journey that started over 24 months ago. Like with most things life gets in the way and my busy hectic life meant that making a dream become reality was something that I put down my list of things ‘to do’!
The reality is that the exact reason why I didn’t start Lonely Thoughts earlier is the exact reason why I am starting Lonely Thoughts! It is important to find time, deliver your goals or even just take five to reevaluate what’s important to you.
Lonely Thoughts is not only a dream to create great timeless pieces that all can enjoy but also a platform to raise awareness for mental health, raise money for mental health charities and other good causes relating to supporting mental health.
Not being OK is OK, but let’s talk about……..
Talk to someone, check in on that mate, break the stigma, yours and everyone’s mental health is precious.
Having had to tackle with mental health both personally and with my closest loved ones I appreciate the unexplainable impact and toll negative mental health has on yourself and others. the hardest thing is the invisibility of it, not understanding why going out is a big deal, why meeting with friends or family can bring intolerable fear, why having thoughts reoccurring in your head that brings out fear, panic or loneliness.
the hardest thing, mental health is still a taboo subject, almost daily I read stories, witness first hand or be told about the negativity surrounding mental health, people claiming it’s ‘fake’ or ‘exaggerated’ or you are using mental health as ‘an excuse’!! Having a mental disorder isn’t easy, and it’s even harder when people assume you can just get over it.
‘powerful and delicate’ – give your most powerful and delicate organ time, respect and love. I will never understand why every organ in your body get’s support and sympathy when it’s ill, except for your brain.
I wish people could understand that the brain is the most important organ in our body. just because you can’t see mental illness like you could see a broken bone, doesn’t mean it’s not as detrimental or devastating to a family or individual.
I hope Lonely Thoughts can in its small way make a change and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. All sales of Lonely thoughts products directly go to those working to support people affected, we will nominate mental health charities and good causes and donate monies directly to them as a result of sales from the Lonely Thoughts range.
So…. do something today, talk to that friend, your sibling, your parent, your loved one, and if it’s you that needs support there are some fantastic resources at your fingertips or reach out to that trusted confidant, or why not show your support to all the fantastic charities and good causes doing great things by buying some Lonely Thoughts swag as every single sale will generate much needed donations to these wonderful causes.
